As a photographer, I am constantly seeking new ways to push the boundaries of my craft and create unique, memorable images for my clients. That’s why I was thrilled to offer new underwater photography sessions, inspired by a workshop I attended in California in 2022. And I couldn’t have asked for a better subject to help me bring this vision to life than my fellow photographer Sherry Jane.

We chose the heated pool at the JW Marriott as our location, despite the chilly 57-degree weather outside. The setting was perfect – the warm water was inviting, the lighting was gorgeous, and the surroundings provided a stunning backdrop for our photos.

Of course, there were challenges to overcome. The pool was open to other guests, which meant there were a lot of people around that needed to be edited out of the final images. But with a little post-production magic, you would never know they were there.

One of the things I love about underwater photography is the unique perspective it provides. The way light refracts through the water creates a dreamy, ethereal effect that is unlike anything you can achieve on dry land. And with the right equipment and technique, you can capture incredible detail and color in even the most challenging lighting conditions.

For these sessions, I provide all the necessary equipment, including underwater housing for my camera and lighting equipment to ensure the perfect exposure. I also supply a variety of fabrics and outfits for my clients to choose from, to help create the perfect look for their session.

While these sessions are perfect for maternity photography, they can be used for a variety of other photo sessions as well. Imagine capturing the joy and wonder of childhood as kids splash and play in the water, or the sensual beauty of a boudoir session shot underwater. These are great for maternity sessions as well! The possibilities are endless.

Swimming knowledge is preferred, but not mandatory. I am happy to work with clients of all skill levels to create images that they will cherish for a lifetime.
