Hi, I’m Amber, photographer, wife, mama, animal wrangler, coffee lover, occasional Monster-fueled creative, and the heart behind Amber Denise Photography.
     I’ve been married to my amazing and incredibly supportive husband for 13 years, and together we have two boys who keep life loud, funny, messy, and full of love. We also apparently decided two children weren’t enough responsibility, so we added a bird, a ferret, two doodles, and a malamute to the mix. Basically, our house is one part family home and one part small zoo. 
    Photography has been part of me for as long as I can remember. I got my first Polaroid camera when I was 12, and from that point on, I was always the one taking pictures, recording videos, and trying to capture the little moments everyone else was busy living.
But the real reason behind my business is much more personal.
     Growing up, I didn’t have many baby photos of myself. When I became a mom, that hit me differently. I knew I wanted my son to have something I didn’t a childhood documented in photographs. I wanted to remember the tiny hands, silly faces, missing teeth, messy hair, and all those ordinary moments that somehow become the ones we miss the most.
That love turned into a passion, and in 2014, Amber Denise Photography was born.
     What started with me documenting my own family became a way for me to preserve those same memories for other families. And more than a decade later, I still get emotional thinking about the fact that the images I create may someday be held by someone’s children, grandchildren, and generations I’ll never even meet.
    My faith is a big part of who I am, too. I’m a Christian, and I truly believe God gave me this creative gift for a reason. I don’t take lightly the fact that people trust me with some of the biggest chapters of their lives pregnancies, newborn babies, growing families, milestones, and everything in between.
Now, am I always calm and gracefully sipping coffee while creating art?
Absolutely not. 
    Sometimes I’m fixing a dress with one hand, making a toddler laugh with the other, moving a light with my foot, and wondering where I left my coffee… again.
But that’s also what I love about this job.
    Sessions don’t have to be perfectly posed or perfectly behaved to be beautiful. Real life is funny, emotional, unpredictable, and sometimes a little chaotic and somewhere inside all of that is usually the photograph you’ll treasure the most.
     So when you book with me, you’re not just hiring someone to take your picture.
You’re getting someone who genuinely cares about your story, will probably hype you up like your new best friend, obsess over the little details, help with wardrobe, make your kids laugh, and do everything I can to create photographs that feel like you.
Because babies grow. Kids change. Seasons pass.
And someday, photographs are what bring us right back to the way it all felt.
